Can we carry alcohol in the checked-in luggage?

Nope. It was in checked in baggage. In guwahati there is screening before check-in and that is where this happened. And in carry on baggage nowhere is a one litre bottle allowed even if sealed!!

I'm a bit surprised at this. I've carried alcohol bottles (sealed & also open) in my checked baggage many a time on international flights, albeit never while leaving from India.

In the hand baggage you are not allowed to carry fluids, checked in baggage is fine. As a matter of fact most times you don't even have to open the checked in luggage for inspection.

You can't carry any alcohol in cabin luggage. Has to be Check in luggage.Hence it has to be packed carefully.Airlines sometimes refuse too much bottles because it may break due to handling.
