Any Idea about the road condition between Varanasi to Calcutta? I watched few videos and not seen many restaurants, where can I stop for good veg dishes? I am planning to start around 5 am from Varanasi. Any precautions I have to take, any surprises I should watch out for etc..?

Yes, there won't be many options but there will be few dhabas where you can get veg food. Don't forget to try "KhirMohan" when you enter Jharkhand. There will be many shops of "Khirmohan" on the highway itself. We liked it very much.

We too started around 5 AM from Varanasi and reached Kolkata by 5 PM. Drive carefully while passing through highways, there will be heavy traffic(trucks) from Jharkhand due to industrial areas till Kolkata.

Any recommended place to stay in Varanasi, I prefer to stay near to highway so that I can get in and out quickly. Not having any budget constraint. Good rooms, car parking is must, if not a restaurant they should serve food in room.

We took Airbnb in Varanasi since we stayed for 1 week there.

I could see news that heavy rains lashing North and East India. Any issues so far in National Highways connecting Jaipur - Delhi - Varanasi - Calcutta? I have done all hotel bookings for my travel starts on 5th Oct, any issues in NH I might have to plan an alternate route to avoid getting stuck.

I have completed the Journey until Mathura. In Jaipur I was stuck in traffic jam for about 2 hours due to rain. Further stuck in a 5 hrs traffic around 180 kms from Jaipur on NH48.
Given the forecast not so good in UP and full week thunderstorms in WB, from Thursday thunderstorms in Odissa and Andra, I am little hesitant in taking the route Mathura - Varanasi - Kolkatta and further to Bhubaneswar - Vizag - Chennai. Any update on these routes.

Actual: Chennai - Mumbai - New Delhi - Nagpur - Hyderabad - Chennai
