Corona Virus Covid 19

This is exactly why a new vaccination is needed in 6 months. I get vaccinated for flu each year for over the last 10 years because each year virus mutates. This virus needs vaccinations for the next few years before its death rate becomes the same as the flu virus rate. American infrastructure for vaccine production is now permanent. Companies invested billions of dollars in R&D and storage capabilities so America will fight this virus proactively. Most of America's production is global. Europe also benefits from this a great deal. India is stuck in Atamanirbhar. That is nice talk but India does not have the resources for fixed capital investments. If India sits on this philosophy then by October when winter arrives and stubble burning begins, India is looking at death rates between 5000-7000 per day. The loss of productivity due to lockdowns etc. will hit the economy further.

I do not know if this is good news but US is willing to share 60 million doses of Astra Zenaca vaccine with India. It is a vaccine that never got approval for use in US so US has a stock. The vaccine was widely used in Europe so it is not necessarily bad but it has issues.

It has similar issues as Pfizer has on rare blood clotting thing, so not such a big issue.
It's price is very less comparative to Pfizer and also can be stored at normal refrigerator temperatures, hence suitable for India.

I will be surprised if US will charge anything. It should be donated. I think the risk of damage due to vaccine is lower than risk of not taking the vaccine.

I am not sure if Astra Zeneca has variants or not but I will be getting my 1st shot here in Canada tomorrow of Astra Zeneca.

Earlier they said Astra Zeneca will be given to only people between age group of 55-65 but now they said its safe for people over 30 as well. Not sure, may be lack of vaccine.

With the limited information I have, it appears that only women aged 19-49 have less than 1% risk of getting blood clots. It is not clear that these blood clots are due to vaccine or other reasons. Most countries have decided to give a warning so that people can monitor the possibility for 20 days after they get the vaccination. I think the US does not need more vaccines and everyone in the US will get vaccinated by the end of May so they did not use Astra Zeneca.

America will donate its 60 million doses (free) and also supply raw material for India's Covaxin. The US may not give all 60 million to India but India could get enough to put some limits on the growth of serious Covid-19 cases.

U.S. to share 60 million doses of AstraZeneca Covid vaccine with other countries

Some Oxygen help may also be available. I think Amazon has donated Oxygen concentrators. US government might do more.

Today morning, me and wife got inoculated with the second dose of Covishield at BBMP Rajajinagar UPHC at zero cost. Yesterday, I had rescheduled the date, advancing it to today in view of Bangalore lockdown, starting from tonight. When we reached the venue in the morning, there were a lot of people waiting in the queue unlike the first dosage. When I mentioned that we had done the online registration, we were allowed to have the jabs on priority. There was a notice pasted on the wall to that effect. But, many ignorant people were turned away for the second dosage asking them to come after 45 days because of rush, when the government website stipulates 28 - 56 days. After the vaccination was over, we were asked to wait for half hour and then given 2 Paracetamol tablets each as against 4 each given after the first jab. We are both fine. Just now, received the message and I downloaded our final vaccination certificates. At last, the rigmarole is over.=D> :)

Just 100 meters into Thiruvananthapuram Medical College complex, is the liquid medical oxygen plant that caters to patients in ICUs. Instead of the earlier 20KL capacity, it's now double at 40KL capacity. And this isn't an exception in Kerala. However, it is at variance with the situation in the rest of the country where there is a scramble for oxygen with several hospitals reporting acute shortages.

This is not how oxygen is made but how oxygen is extracted from air. BTW, does anyone see the cost of this whole operation? India might get free stuff but these extraction processes are expensive and who is paying for running these processes? You need real estate, containers, transportations, etc.
