The crested serpent eagle is a medium-sized bird of prey that is found throughout India.
They are apex predators and have no known predators.
They feed mainly on reptiles such as snakes, lizards and frogs. These Eagles also consume small birds, small mammals such as rats, and large insects.
Like all birds of prey, eagles have very large, hooked beaks for ripping flesh from their prey, strong, muscular legs, and powerful talons.
They play an important role in controlling the numbers of reptiles and small mammals that they consume.
