House boats are not cheap. They are like luxury hotels on water. Expect high rates.

Maybe in off season you might find a room in houseboat for that much amount, but you are traveling in peak season and it is unlikely you will find it for this less. You should be able to find a room near Lal Chowk.

hi again,,,,should i book the houseboats in advance or can i get it there itself...I found some houseboats in around 1200-1500 per day

If you feel you are getting a good deal, then book in advance. Otherwise you can try and negotiate after arriving there. Though in peak season finding a budget houseboat can be a bit difficult at times.
