No permits required, just the regulation checking at police and army check-posts.Thanks.
I am doing it then.
I read somewhere that if you start from Chamba side, you need permit from Chamba police station. Is it true?

Thanks for the information, @jagmohan sethi. I understand that the construction works are in progress in Bhaderwah-Chamba section and expected to be completed by end-2014. What is the present status of the works? Can I drive in my 2 WD XUV 500? I wish to visit Dalhousie during my return journey from Leh in this September. Kindly enlighten the present condition of the road, please.I and my wife drove from pahalgam kishtwar. Doda. Road from bhaderwah to Badri is good and bad because many bridges are under construction. Badri is on the kashmir and Himachal border. Badri is a high mountain pass but was very green and found many families from Bhaderwah and Himachal side for a picnic there. Many tea stalls there unlike at sinthan pass where we did not see a soul except few passing vehicles. From Badri the Himachal border is about 10km and the road is full of potholes. After the border the road is very narrow but smooth drive (No black tar). After about 15 Kms the road is narrow but with black top and smooth all the way.. You shouldn't have any problem at all in your XUV? As usual we did see wagonR and Altos on this route. Road work is not going to be completed this year at least. Have a nice trip though. Thanks for the information, @jagmohan sethi. I understand that the construction works are in progress in Bhaderwah-Chamba section and expected to be completed by end-2014.
