Decent budget headphones for movies

My Rs. 150 Techcom headphones is now due for replacement and I am thinking of getting something slightly better, mainly for somewhat better life (these cheap ones usually last for one a half years or so) and sound quality.

Budget isn’t really all that much, as I want to spend less than 1k can stretch to maybe 1.5-2k, if it improves the sound quality or longevity drastically.

I am mainly going to be using these for movies and YouTube videos, which varies mainly from the standard rips to quality HD rips. Due to this, I want a headphone which can deliver a bit loud noise, since the volume in a few videos can be really low and I am using on board audio.

Btw sir need a little bit of gyan about impedance etc. gibberish that is plastered over the packs of headphones, unless it is absolutely useless to read them.

Its ideally suited for movies.Good bass, clear vocals,etc

Ergonomics is decent,sits well on your ears.

cable is long ~2 mtrs, can be helpful if you are using it for watching television.

Flimsy plastics, feels delicate.

noticeable distortion at v.high volume and sound leaks.

Its says impedance at 70ohms, while the philips one are rated at 32. Any idea if that will prove as a hindrance for on board sound card or am I reading it wrongly and high impedance rating is actually better?

A lower impedance would be better unless the headphones carry their own amp built in!

How do you distort what I said? :p

Ideally the headphones would have been 8 ohms, but 32 has become almost standard. 70 ohm phones will give less volume from 'standard' amps.

@Yogi, am not sure about those numbers.

Right now, am using it on a Intel Atom powered pc which has an on board sound card. It does feel under utilized, it sounds wee better (better clarity and slightly higher volume) when I switch over to my Creative sound blaster 7.1 card.

Why not check it out in a showroom,they usually have a demo piece, carry few songs in a pen drive and test it.

Doubt even the Sony world here would allow a demo.
