The Contrarian!
Metro should reach from Rohini to Bangalore as well :weedman: (just kidding)

Couple of metro extension projects are being developed at Gurgaon and Faridabad District by some private companies which will also connect to Delhi Metro Rail. I heard in one hindi news channel that Private metro project has been passed for Alwar, Bhiwadi and Sohna, so their property rates have increased.

Any news on when DMRC is correcting/revising the Airport Express line fares?
The fare is way too much, and that's the prime reason of low occupancy of this line, the average train occupancy is less than 10%.

I heard some news that DMRC (after taking over from Reliance) would reduce the fare to increase train occupancy, but no news as of now.

I have also heard this,
but don't know
what is going on internally.
Something fishy is certainly there.
It will become the busiest line, if it is reduced to normal level.

At what speed is the so-called high speed Airport Metro working now?
AFAIK it has been permanently de-rated to slow speed.
Yet the fare has not been suitably amended and the trains are running empty.
The way they work defies logic!

The revised operating speed (after repairs/replacements of bearings) is 50kmph against previous 105kmph.

DMRC will gradually increase the operating speed after certain intervals, if everything goes fine after repairs.

Revising fares of this line is the only option to revive this loss making investment.

When did this happen?
I had traveled in first week of July and had a wonderful experience, yet again.
The revised speeds are after repair work, from January 2013 onwards.
Revised speeds are applicable for overhead track, while underground track has retained the previous speed.

IMO, it is better than any other mode of transport in Delhi.
No doubt it is the best option but we are discussing about train occupancy and fares. The current occupancy of train is too less to justify the investment.
DMRC has to revise fares to make this line happening.

I thought it was primarily targeted for the travelers getting down at T3 and use it as an alternative to the Taxi. Perhaps that was the reason for those high fares. If someone could afford a taxi, then one could always afford the Airport metro. But I guess the problem is with the connectivity, to places that are off route from those five stations.
