Delhi - North East travel guide

I made a brief search in this section, but didn't find any relevant thread which talks about this route. So, opened a thread myself.

Siliguri in northern part of West Bengal is considered as the gateway of North-East. If you want to visit Sikkim, North Bengal, or North East states, you have to reach Siliguri first.

I am planning to do a bike trip in October 2017 to Sikkim. So, need input on this route. From the map what I understood is, the shortest way is Delhi-Yamuna Expressway-Agra-Lucknow Expressway-Lucknow-Faisabad-Gorakhpur-Muzaffarpur-Darbhanga-Kishanganj-Siliguri.

Another route suggests via Bhagalpur-Katihar from Goakhpur.

Yet another route suggests Varanasi-Patna-Kishanganj-Siliguri.

Which one to be the best? Has anyone traveled so far on the new expressway after it was built and thrown open to public?

Great I have been myself thinking to do the same but not able to materialize yet.

The route which you have sorted is the most shortest route. But my question is which motorcycle.

Delhi - Yamuna Expressway - Agra Lucknow Expressway : I get bored in this route. Reason - straight roads, not much dhabas to hang around, no shelter in Agra Lucknow Expressway and hence no support.
I would suggest you to take Delhi - Faridabad - Palwal - Mathura - Agra - Etawah - Kanpur - Lucknow :563kms. Why am I saying to follow this route when on bike:

1. Plenty of things around to keep you busy unlike the Yamuna expressway and Agra Lucknow expressway.
2. Plenty of dhabas and places where you can rest. In Agra Lucknow Expressway there are no shops nor for tea or even a puncture repair guy. I was driving on this route few months back.
3. In case of any trouble on the motorcycle, you will find a lot of shop here to get it fixed.

The minus point of this route is that it is lengthy and takes a bit more time to reach.

I did a Delhi-Kolkata-Delhi and been to Agra multiple times - so the Yamuna expressway is quite known to me. I can avoid the Lucknow expressway and straight go to Kanpur. But how is the road from Kanpur to Lucknow? There's a huge long flyover above the Kanpur city which I know - is there any diversion before or after that?

My bike is Pulsar 200 NS. Well maintained - so should not create any big problem en route. My main aim is to cover as much as possible on Day 1 and take rest at Gorakhpur.

How is the road after Gorakhpur?

On the big flyover over on Kanpur, their would be a left turn indicating Lucknow. If you keep on going straight you will go to Allahabad. Roads from Kanpur to Lucknow would not be as smooth as before but not bad either.

I am sorry till Gorakhpur the roads are good I know that after that I dont know.
