Hi,
Im planning a road trip from Delhi to Bhutan leaving on 4/12/18.
The route finalized so far is DELHI - AGRA - LUCKNOW - FAIZABAD - GORAKHPUR - MUJAFFARPUR - DARBHANGA - PURNEA - SILIGURI - PHUENTSHOLING.

I would appreciate some help and suggestions regarding.

1: The ROAD CONDITIONS on the above said route.
2: Average driving speed on the above highways, as i prefer cruising at 110/hr.
3: Suggested locations for stay as i am travelling with family and prefer to drive straight to SILIGURI and take the 1st hault.
4: Concerned about the safety and facilities on the route as im doing this route for the very first time.

ANY SUGGESTED CHANGES IN THE ABOVE MENTIONED ROUTE ARE ALSO WELCOME.

Thanks.

Delhi to Gorakhpur road is excellent.
Gorakhpur to Muzaffarpur is Ok.
Muzaffarpur to Siliguri is good.
Siliguri till border is not good.
Thereafter in Bhutan roads are good.

Delhi to Gorakhpur road is excellent.
Roads around Basti, 30-40km short or Gorakhpur, are a bit potholes filled. Also, fill up before you climb the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. 300 km of no fuel pumps. I had to fill thrice on my Dominar. And nothing to eat too
Gorakhpur to Muzaffarpur is Ok.
Still one can do around 120kmph without worrying much. Make sure you take the Purnea route and stick to 4lane highway after Arariya. Its longer, but faster.
Muzaffarpur to Siliguri is good.
Except from the 22km patch between Bagdogra and Siliguri. Single lane road, with crater like potholes. I had to do this stretch after Sunset, so it was painful. Try leaving early and covering this stretch with some daylight left. Note that you're traveling East, so sun sets early.
Siliguri till border is not good.
I disagree. Siliguri till Hashimara, via the Sevoke route is the best road one can ride. Hashimara-Joygaon/Phuentsholing is conjested, narrow and blessed with maddening traffic.
Thereafter in Bhutan roads are good.
Roads are great only till Paro, Thimphu and Punakha. Please check the current road status if you wish to cover Eastern Bhutan. I had a nightmare post Phobjikha last year!
