Delhi to Diu by Road

Hello Everyone,

I am planning to do Delhi to diu on 2 jan'16 in my swift diesel.
want to start the year with a great drive and make this year a driving destination year for me.

i will be travelling with my wife and daughter of 14 years.

i have done ahmedabad to delhi via beawer - udaipur before while on my return from nashik.

want to cover delhi ahmedabad in one day and ahmedabad diu the next day.

Please suggest the best possible routes, places for night halt, places for food halt etc.

I dont mind covering a few extra kilometers for a better road than a bad road.

Also, Is going via palanpur a better option than going to ahmedabad.

Well if good roads interest you, go to Diu via Rajkot. 4 Lane highway till Jetpur/Junagarh.

I would prefer Himmatnagar anyday for Delhi - Ahmedabad as traffic on Palanpur - Ahmedabad stretch is horrible.

Any idea about roads for Ahmedabad to diu via Bhavnagar.

Also, via rajkot junagarh route, GPS shows Keshod-somnath-kodinar-diu.
Is this the right option.

Another option a bit shorter is via Bhavnagar... Ahmedabad - Bagodara - Dholera - Bhavnagar - Diu. The road is 4 lane for most part, atleast till bhavnagar but is broken in stretches between Bagodara & Bhavnagar.
