I'm looking to buy new furniture.
I checked out Godrej Interio and liked their range.

Also bought a wall unit from Home Ideas, a Neelkamal store.

Will check out Style Spa tomorrow.

Seeking suggestions and advice please.

We had got a german kitchen unit fitted in our kitchen in our gurgaon flat. all our cupboards, kitchen counters etc and it was great. i plan to get same installed in our new house in Chandigarh. as for other furniture, i personally don't like the furniture in market nowadays and will get it made to order, with my choice of wood and finish etc. some friends got a sofa set from these branded stores and when they were reupholstering it few yrs down the line....they found the wood used inside was of a very inferior quality.

IKEA - Do It Yourself CARD BOARD Tables / Shelves / Chairs etc.
Made of Card Board only - Cheapest Ones may be in $$.
Though they have many other ready made stuffs also.

Style Spa is good, but avoid furniture made of particle board & MDF.
Most of the furniture I saw in the stores is made of MDF.
A simple dining table made of the board stuff can be bought for :r:11000 onwards. Where as the one made of sheesham wood is for :r:40000 and more.

Waiting for Ikea to arrive, so that I can upgrade my computer and TV table :)
I bought a computer table from Godrej Interio for :r:5600, which I think is expensive... Ikea may be quite unaffordable!

Furniture made of MDF looks nice, but is not sturdy and is beyond any repairs.
Ask the store guys for process of replacing/repairing a screw. They will either suggest to make another hole in MDF board, or to use some epoxy glue to keep the loosened screw in place!

I bought it twice, for the ease of shifting, as these furnitures come as fully dismantled and seemed to be boon for people who shift regularly.

I had bought a double bed, and an almirah from @ home.

Unfortunately I had shifted my stuff only once from Blr to Delhi, and was never able to get the almirah in the original shape. The screw tighteners loose their shape once opened, and it never got aligned as it was earlier. There were huge panel gaps and the whole thing felt too much fragile.

Next time shifted it to my native, and called an carpenter to do the fixing and make it permanent by supporting the back by additional wooden logs, though the alignment is never the same, but it helped it to stand. Drawer is now useless, as it doesn't fits in its place, and the racks has been strengthen by using clips on them.

Bed though still works for us, as it was made up of 4 wooden boxes, and boxes are still in shape, but seems to be quite fragile now.

It Can be a bad choice, if you are in transferable job, or keep shifting your house. Local furniture from good shop will be far better than these so called cosmo furnitures from these brands.

Cheers !!!

I had the same experience with our first-&-last purchase of a sexy TV Wall Unit made of MDF. It went out of shape in less than a year. Sold it for peanuts to replace it for usual wooden and plyboard stuff.
