Domestic airlines - need an update

Hi,

I could not find anything quite new on this forum. Is the following rating OK in respect of punctuality, safety, and service

1. Air India, unreliable

2. Jet Konnect Jet Lite, good

3. Kingfisher, no as alsmost bankrupt

4. Spicejet ??

5. Indigo, good

6. GO Air ??

As I have to book a number of flights, I like to make the right choice.

Srinagar-Delhi-Bagdogra in one day with GO AIr, connecting time 2.15 h - is that a safe bet or mission impossible?

Here goes. Replies in Red

1. Air India, unreliable

Even now Domestic flights are very reliable despite the strike. The strike is by the members of the former Air India union which had a monopoly on international flights. The domestic flights of Air India (except a few flights which are operated as part of international sectors like Mumbai Delhi Shanghai) are safe and reliable even now. Avoid Air India Express flights as well. a few of which are in domestic sectors like Chennai Mumbai

2. Jet Konnect Jet Lite, good

Reliable as usual

3. Kingfisher, no as alsmost bankrupt

They now have a reduced schedule and apparently there are not many cancellations in this one. Fares are low, however rescheduling and refunds may still be a problem
4. Spicejet ??
No negative reports. In fact the food on board which you have to purchase is reportedly much better than competitor offerings
5. Indigo, good
Reliable as usual
6. GO Air ??
Not much issues but remember they just have 12 aircraft, the smallest fleet of hte lot. If even one aircraft has problems (as happened a few months back when a Jet Airways ground vehicle rammed one of their aircraft at Mumbai), then there will be disruptions in flights

Not too many options for you if you have to make a same day connection as the Go Air flight is the only one which reaches early in the morning at Delhi from Srinagar. Connection should be safe but keep in mind that if the unexpected happens and you miss the connection, Go Air WILL NOT accept responsibility as you will be buying two separate tickets - Srinagar Delhi and Delhi Bagdogra
