Hi,

Great pics...Nice to see and refreshed my memories when I visited Sikkim in the year 2014.

Your one of the pic gave me a hint of the area where you are located. Was that pic taken at Shokhobrishti, New town actions III. I was able to recall as I used to live there when I was working at Kolkata.

Let’s come out of the flashbacks now. No one had a good sleep at night but still everyone was ready by 3:30 AM. As the engine started, the calmness in the town was lost. All of us were packed up in warm clothes from head to toe. Last time the chilling air knocked my ears and so I had severe headache. So this time I made it a point that I cover my ears and use camphor if I feel suffocated. The curves were sharp and the roads were that of boulders. It was pitch dark and we were climbing uphill like hell. I was unable to guess the type of road ahead so missed to maintain the required momentums at certain points. At one sharp turn we got stuck and I had to ask everyone to get down.

In 2013 the roads from Lachen to Thangu was average but now it has worsen. With the break of the day the visibility improved. The roads was steep because within few kilometers a height of 16000 feet was reached (Thangu). We halted at Thangu just beside the one we had halted in past. Nothing much has changed here, only the snow has changed their course. There was no trace of snow but there was some in 2013. We had tea and bought some popcorn there.

@Point Zero- I'm planning to do Old Silk Route and North Sikkim (Lachen, Gurudongmar Lake) from 23rd of Nov. I will be driving from Delhi and will taking Permit at Rongli and Gangtok for Old Silk route and North Sikkim respectively.

Please suggest things to keep in mind or suggestions while taking permit for self-driven cars. I had drove to Leh, Spiti, Bhutan in past but except Bhutan does not have any permit copies.

Sorry everyone for such late reply. Suddenly I got some serious medical issue in my family and that is the reason I could not able to manage any trip in last couple of months. And could not able to follow any forum.

No alb_trp, due to some medical issue in my family, I could not go anywhere in last couple of months.

Just Fantastic your pictures are excellant just wanted to ask you which period of the year did you visit North Sikkim and do you know any Driver who can do this trip for me. If possible.

Both 2013 and 2016 was in 15th or April. Same date same month. Do you need driver from Siliguri? I have some contact, will send you in PM. However you can join me if you want for next trip to North Sikkim O:)
