Three of us have planned to go to Leh via Poo-Kaza-Keylong route on motorcycles. We have planned for a 15 day ride starting Sunday 17th June.

Regarding the same I need one help from the more experienced members of the group.

We are thinking of doing Keylong --> Tso-moriri --> Pangong --> Leh route to save on a couple of days.

1. If I am able to arrange for ILP at Keylong, is it a feasible plan?
2. Ideally how many days it will take? From Tso-moriri to Pangong, we plan to drive along the lake. That is take the Chushul --> Merak --> Man --> Spangmik route.
3. How many kilometers does this journey amount to? Are there any petrol pumps on this route after Keylong?
4. Any idea about the road conditions on this route? Is this route completely open?

Any information would be of great help

Thanks
Lokesh

1. The ILP will not be available at Keylong you would have to arrange it prior from DC office at Leh, through some travel agent.
2. Keylong - Sarchu
Sarchu - Tso Moriri
Tso Moriri - Pangong Tso

You can stretch the ride in 3 days, but it is going to be a bit hectic. specially the last two days.

3. See the map here: http://www.bcmtouring.com/forum/india-maps-gps-trails-f53/map-ladakh-zanskar-all-routes-t36772/#post482878

4. Again see the map above to get a rough idea of different sections of the route.

Have said all of that go through this thread regarding latest developments on Ladakh ILPs: http://www.bcmtouring.com/forum/india-travel-news-f65/permit-hold-chushul-other-areas-around-lac-t45253/
