Thank You Amit bhai. I think that the War memorial is a must visit place for anyone visiting Ladakh/Srinagar. It reminds us about the supreme love that some of our countrymen has shown for our motherland and it will surely inspire the young generation to start dreaming about joining the forces.

The 3rd name on the list - Does anyone remember Capt Vikram Batra? He once said that - "I'll either come back after raising the Indian flag in victory or return wrapped in it". He laid down his life for the country while trying to recapture Point 4875 from the Pakistani intruders. He won the nation's highest military honor Param Vir Chakra for his gallantry. The 1st name on the list Lt.Saurabh Kalia was Kargil's 1st hero. Saurabh's & 5 other Jawans were caught as POW's and were brutally tortured & subsequently executed by the Pakistani Army. This savagery by the Pak Army is probably one of the worst War crimes ever committed. It was in complete contravention of the Geneva Conventions on the treatment of POW's.
