In addition to the beautiful pandal, which tried to bring forth the artistic works on the mud-thatched walls of the huts in the villages of Bengal, many craftsmen also got a place to showcase their work and attract buyers. By buying from them, we were not only respecting their work, but also financially helping them directly. If these same items were put up in a store in Kolkata, the shopkeeper can easily attach a price tag two-three times of what these people were asking for. We, too, bought some of their items.
