'Food Court' in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi

This cafetaria in a hospital complex is quite okay for attendants of a patient, and for the unique breed of 'casual trespassers'(!).

I have noticed many interns having their meal there! During meal timings (breakfast/lunch/supper/dinner) there is huge rush of people from all walks of life. But during off-hours, when there is no rush of attendees, many young interns (gals!) are noticed to throng/mob the area!

Food quality is okay, not bad. Variety of food is also okay. Rates are fine. Self-Service. Ambience is poor for a food-court/cafetaria, but still being in a hospital, its quite acceptable.

I seriously wish none of us ever had to eat in a hospital, but still if somebody is passing thru the area, and wants to grab a quick bite with some young crowd at odd timings, this place can also be opted as an alternative. One need not enter the main hospital building, this is one plus point. It's just next to the main EXIT gate of the hospital, and anyone can go there.

Surprising... we are talking about eating in hospital. But if that is the point, I will say the dining hall of Escorts Hospital, delhi is the best. It opens only for 2-3 hours at lunch time, one meal is costly too.. around Rs. 150/- per plate. But its really delicious and very light and healthy.
Won't wish you to try it unless you are a doctor there.

been to Sir Ganga Ram hospital many times for mom's checkup and all... the food is just the normal food that you would get anywhere else... nothing special...

Thanks for the info Sachin. I was in the Hospital Information System implementation team for Sir Ganga Ram hospita, Escorts heart Instt and Fortis healthcare. So I was posted in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for a little more than an year. Let me explain a little bit more on this. There are 3 eateries as I know in the Hospital:

1. Adjacent to the exit gate - this is the one you are talking about. The food is not really very good but at odd timings, you can find some really good crowd(inetrns) there.

2. Old building - 6th floor(not remember exactly). - This is the first building on the right hand side once you enter the hospital. I tried sandwiches and puff there. I loved them. But that was 3 years ago. What is the scene now I don't know.

3. Employee canteen - It is at the back side of the hospital right next to the Doctor's hospital. Food is cheapest here. The quality is not very good, not very bad either. Bread pakoda and cold coffee are too good here. Cheap and best. Try it sometime.

There might be some more eateries which I am not aware of.

I have been to this place so many times since my childhood. Best part of this is you will get something to eat anytime even you happen to visit it somewhere around 3 a.m.
