Ford Ecosport : A new urban beast

These are the approximate prices which I am anticipating, somewhere between ex-showroom and on-road price. One can expect as much as 5% variance. There's no source to the pricing, purely my guess keeping in mind the car itself (engine specs and features) and the competition.

Within a few weeks of time you can walk in to the Ford dealerships and book the EcoSport, as the official bookings start in June this year after such a long anticipation. As the official launch comes closer and the media drive kicks off in Goa, technical specifications for the Ford EcoSport have emerged. We are all aware that the automaker will be offering three engine options with the EcoSport including two petrol engines and one diesel engine. The 1.5-litre petrol engine churns up 110 BHP of peak power and 140 Nm of peak torque.

The 1.5-litre petrol engine comes mated to an option of a 5-speed manual and 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The manual variant for the 1.5-litre petrol motor returns an ARAI mileage of 15.8 km/l, while the automatic variant delivers 15.6 km/l. The 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine produces 89 BHP of peak power with 204 Nm of peak torque, coupled to only a 5-speed manual gearbox with a mileage of 22.7 km/l. The 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine is expected to bring big volumes for the company.

The popular 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine for the EcoSport will only be available with the range topping Titanium and Titanium Option trims producing 122.5 BHP of maximum power and 170 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission only. The EcoBoost engine returns a claimed mileage of 18.9 km/l. Expect an attractive starting price tag for the EcoSport, offering eight exterior color options with four variants including Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium Option. The official launch of the Ford EcoSport will take place in mid-June. Meanwhile check out exhaustive live picture gallery below.
