From the Devaraja Vihara, or Cave No.1 of the exquisite Dambulla Cave Temples in Sri Lanka. Dambulla Cave Temple complex is similar to Ajanta and Ellora put together, with hung\dres of statues and scores of murals in the Ajanta style. These caves are actually Buddhist temples, though there are some idols of Vishnu and Ganesha are also seen. They were originally built by King Valagambahu in the First and Second Century BC in gratitude for the recapture of his Kingdom, Anuradhapura from invading Tamil King. Valagambahu lived in exile in the caves for 16 years.
