    Hi,

As I am travelling with my wife and 2 daughter from Mumbai, is following road ok for Amritsar.

    Mumbai - Ahmedabad - Udaipur - Ajmer - Jaipur - Panipat - Ambala - Amritsar.

As I am alone driver and have wife and daughters with me, want to be safe, even if lengthy route. Please suggest if any changes can be made.

    Thanks.

Most simplest and fastest route is the usual one:
    Mumbai - Ahmedabad - Udaipur - Chittorgarh - Kishangarh - Jaipur - Delhi - Ambala - Ludhiana - Jalandhar - Amritsar.

Though it is longer by about 150 KMs, but throughout NH roads which are wide and smooth.
It is much safer IMO, plus plenty of decent options for a brief halt with family.
I personally feel that's a negligible extra distance to cover in favour of doing it safely.

    Just one more tip:
If you are doing it in 2 days, break your journey at Jaipur, for a night halt. Most feasible place in suggested itinerary. Stick to any hotel inside city close to highway. Heerapura Circle area is the best bet IMO.

If doing it in 3 days, break the drive at Udaipur and then in Delhi for night halts.

Thanks a lot sir. Also if I wish to skip Amritsar and directly go to Srinagar, then also you would suggest same route.

    Regards,
    Alok

There can be multiple options, but yes, I'll suggest the same route.
