General photography questions!

Theoretically, G7X is Canon's response to the RX100 and apart from the legacy, is actually the better option between the two.

My only fear with switching to a fixed lens camera is its limited range. I don't need the ultra-high quality of the DSLR but losing the versatility makes me anxious. On the other hand, the portability of a G7X/ RX100 will allow me 10x more pictures and eventually more keepers (more for memories rather than creative achievement).
Zack,
Do not fear, I am with you.
I have 6 DSLR's from D4 to D70 and array of lenses, even then I went and bought V1 (CX) 1 inch with 2 lenses and then after 3 months bought another V1 with other 2 lenses. These days V1 is my most used camera. I bought 2 V1 because I use them a lot for timelapse photography.
Unless you are shooting for money 1" sensor will be more than enough for any photography.

Actually, the conclusion is, larger sensors allow more room to play with unless the FL on the smaller sensor is equivalent. Since FX is capturing a larger frame, you've better control on the DOF.
Also how on a larger sensor you can zoom in more and derive shallow DOF at higher aperture numbers.
To get out of this confusion and understand the DoF and effect of light on imaging sensor you have to understand the 'Circle of Confusion' CoC in photography.
Read about CoC on the web.

Leh'd and how!
Thank you, Henry, for the motivation. I looked at the m43 and 1" cameras with changeable lenses but somehow ended up preferring RX100 over most given my requirements at the moment. Although I still get swayed towards A6000 once in a while but while the body is compact, most of its lenses are pretty large in size and expensive.

And I did read about CoC, it was there in the links Ankur shared. I understand the concept much better now :)

The purpose you changed the system is to get it small, so better stick with 1" sensor. The m43 and APS-C although the body may be small the lenses aren't.

Try using Lightroom for photo-editing. It has almost all the lens/camera profiles.

Need help from veterans here. Today I found bunch of lens filters in old stock of my FIL .
These files were tucked in a dusty store room for years and has developed the dirt everywhere. How can I clean them? Can I wash them in running water or with soap?

Where is the remote?
Use distilled water. Even tap waters have plenty of chemicals nowadays. No soap please. First blow the loose dirt away. Make sure not to rub loose dirt on the surface as it will cause scratches.

Use an Air Duster to remove dust before touching them! This will remove all loose dust even from corners.
