GPS tracks of the Hanle to Tso moriri route, without touching chumur.

Wow. Just wow. A tibetan wolf! That's a prize catch by the lens. I guess you found it before you reached Kyun Tso, right?

The route brings back some of the best memories of any road trip I've ever been upon. It is good to see the region again through your lens.

Lovely pics.
Not sure but I guess we also did this route while coming back from Hanle Chumur back in 2008. @hisunil sir is this the same route?
sumit, if you did the hanle chumur route in all probablity you would have done the same route, execpt the deviation to the right at the chumur plains. And i guess it would have been more tougher to do back then in 2008.

yes harsh, it was just before kyun tso, a prize catch indeed, would have loved to have been carrying one of those mega 400 mm or 600 mm primes, but had to make do with my 18 -200. thanks for all the detailed replies regarding the route i had peppered you with, we were well prepared for this route.

Alpha, the lam tso remains elusive, we would have had to move towards chumur to go in that direction, and we did not have permitsmore ever lam tso i believe cannot be reached by vehicals, google earth map shows it to be located at a higher altitude located atop some hillock like feature. It is also marshland in that area.
Today morning I saw a pic of a Tso on a Travel page on FB..Caption was Lam Tso at Penzi La Pass, Zanskar.

the point where we link up with the chumur - tso kar express way, take a right to head to karzok, the left will take you to chumur.

kapoor ji, probably some confused tourist, there are 2 small tso's near the penzila pass, but both are not called lam tso, lam tso is located in the chumur plains, and can be spotted on google earth.

This is what I've been saying for the last 3 months, but nobody would believe me :x
We saw the road branching off while going to Tso Moriri from Sumdo. An Army gypsy took the left and just zoomed away.

we got the oppurtunity to travel the lenght of the tso moriri lake by doing this route, and what a drive it was, mesmerizing beauty unfolds at every turn
