Guidance on Car Purchase

Dear Fellow Members,

I am planning to buy a car for daily commuting (160 kms daily). For the purpose i was thinking of buying a diesel hatchback. Budget is 8 lakhs. Please suggest some best options. Commuting would be on highway. Can I get some good CNG cars in the budget.

Awaiting early response.

Donot go for a CNG. It will strip you off the bootspace and you'll be spending a good time on fuel station (160KMs will require a refill daily). Plus, your outstation trips will be compromised.
8L is a very good budget. Go for a diesel.
  1. Maruti Dzire VDi costs exactly 8L in Vadodara.
  2. Maruti Baleno Delta 1.3 costs slighlty less than 8L in Vadodara. A perfect car for your case.
  3. Maruti Brezza LDi(O) costs 8,15,000 in your city. A very very potent car for your kind of travel.
  4. Hyundai Elite i20 Sp0rtz 1.4 CRDi costs 8,50,000 in your city. Slightly expensive, but much more refined and spacious and loaded car than Dzire.
  5. Hyundai Xcent SX CRDi also costs 8,50,000 in your city. A very capable family mover. We have a petrol one, and love it.
  6. Toyota Etios Liva VXD costs 8,15,000 in Vadodara. Nothing can beat its reliability over long runs.
My preference in descending order:
#4, #3, #2 and lastly #1.

#5 -- We already have.
#6 -- Taxi image kills the novelty factor.

Adding to Sachin's list:
  1. Tata Tigor - Diesel
  2. Tata Zest [Only problem is the engine 1.3 L production is going to get stopped in 2020; but is currently know as National Diesel Engine] - The Harman Music System is awesome.
  3. Mahindra Verito [Ignore Taxi image] - Best kmpl - has better suspension set up. High on maintenance though.

Do you have any preferences for brand for which you wanna go with?

Any hyundai or maruti but be it a top varaint with all loaded features. For example if there's a clash between Dzire mid variant and Swift top variant for the budget envisaged, my money will on swift top end variant with all loaded features. This is a feel good factor in the long term ownership run.
