I think there are specific timings during which the border is open and you can cross only during that time. Also I think you need to carry the original RC of the car, they dont accept photocopies. Suggest you read up on other forums as well about crossing over into Bhutan.

Completed the 1st leg reached Lucknow. Checked in @comfort Inn. Nice neat and clean hotel. Staff is also very cooperative.

Today's journey was very smooth after Agra. Till Kanpur. After Kanpur very small patch of road around 5 km was very bad. Otherwise it was OK. But not as smooth as Agra to Kanpur.

Had our breakfast at Sagar Ratna around 20 km before Mathura. Kids saw double headed snake for real 1st time there.

Day 2: checked out from Hotel. After driving around 10 km from Lucknow. We hit the highway. To my surprise it was a superb highway very smooth, straight and speed breaker free. Zipped my Innova @Speed of 145 kmph.

Till darbhanga highway was in same condition except for a patch of 40-50km which was either single lane or broken.

    Overall superb tier less drive.

Point to be aware you will not find any decent restaurant on the way. Dhabas are also available only till Gorakhpur. After that nothing.

Darbhanga is a very small congested town out of the lot of hotels available Hotel Naveen Residency is the only hotel which has car parking facility and some decent rooms. At dirt cheap price. I booked 2 rooms through make my trip and got around 50% discount. I ended up paying only 1270 for 2 rooms.

Staff so far has been good and corporative.

You see the street empty, but it start getting crowded after 11:00 am and continue to be in that state till 9:00 pm. its so crowded that even driving a bike becomes difficult.

    Will update further tomorrow.
