Had lunch at giani dhaba, on way back from shimla a week back , to me it was overcrowded, overpriced and not great food, just ok type.

we had food therejust for using washrooms, , now with other options around, i guess we will avoid giani dhaba.

if you are coming from Shimla....once you cros all that Giani...other dhabas...keep driving for a bit and left handside is a dhaba type called B&B...basil and bean....has got a Orange signboard. it has fantastic views...and good food. the washrooms are very clean. we were there day before and we had delicious Veg sandwiches...55 bucks a plate. their coffees are very good and they have good cappuchinos, mochas etc. I know the family who owns this place. they also own a very successful restaurant in chandigarh. you must try it...and post review. this is before the railway Phatak after you cross Giani.

I went to Mashobra during Independence week and ended up eating at Gyani's both ways. On return, we ordered Kadhai Chicken Boneless and they were the best I've ever had so far.

I won't say Gyani is the best, but I was impressed with the offerings they had, open kitchen and a good manager. He chatted with me on how old this was (32 yrs). If it hadn't been good, I wouldn't have waited to be seated both trips.

While there were other restaurants/dhabhas around, they were all deserted and we didn't risk eating at a place where stock doesn't move.

Gyaani da Dhaba has become a substandard in terms of Service and Behavior. I have recently explored a very Good Dhaba that is at Barog on old Highway the name of Dhaba is Chachu Da Dhaba and believe me i had my best ever Pranthas(in Himachal) over there.

Having been to Giani Dhaba many times over the years, I have actually seen their service quality deteriorating badly. Many years back, they used to treat customers very well, and all were welcomed to a clean environment and clean tables. Now, its over crowded, over priced, loos stink, food quality has gone down and worst still, they don't give a damn about you being there. Last month I stopped there with my family to be ushered to a dirty table which remained dirty for 15 mins as there is only 1 guy who would clean the table and he was busy. Finally after I decided to move out after waiting in vain for 15 mins, I got dirty looks. I then proceeded to Hot Millions which was fine in food quality and seating. I will not return to Giani again.

Giani da dhaba has lost its charm. Eating a jumbo burger at Hot millions makes my mouth water. You should try it when you do next time
