Rohtang normally closes in November. Generally BRO keeps the Manali - Leh Highway officially open till mid-October.

Yogesh Ji , we all are doctors get very less time from June to September window due to heavy work in rainy seosos . June programme already cancelled couple of times. Keeping in mind all things please advise if we should go ahead with the above mentioned itinerary or try once again in June next year.

High altitude passes like Khardung La, Lachung La and Baralacha La may see heavy snowfall in October. I think 10 days are not sufficient.

Recently completed my solo trip to Ladakh. Yes, Army don't allow anyone to go to Umling La. Permission from Ministry of Home Affairs is required. An Army Officer told me that only cyclist Mrs Vasanti Joshi and her team was allowed to go to Umling La in last six months. He told me that Umling La was never open for tourists without special permit from Ministry of Home Affairs.

Indian Civilians cannot go to Umling La due to security concerns, yet Mercedes India can shoot an AD there. Talk about hypocrisy of the highest level!
