The Ghost Who Walks
The bike was on a super fast Sunday morning ride yesterday -Ludhiana-Rajpura and back .
Had to brake hard for a traffic snarl on the way back-and the front ABS worked hard to save by bacon-the front MRF was screeching for mercy and grip-and on inspection after coming home ,looks like there is some casualty-how severe-will be confirmed by my tyre wallah View attachment 764350 View attachment 764351
Bade bhai place the tyre for replacement under claim these MRF no matter what size and bike they are made for are very prone to cracks specially the side wall cracks. Seen similar cracks in the tyres of Dominar in our Group and most of the time it was replaced under warranty.

Finally fitted the CEAT X1 radial 110/70-R17 H rated on the front. It is a size over than the 100/80-17 H rated bias ply MRF .It was a royal pain to fit-after 2.5hrs and three different tyrewalas, fitted it with a tube and mounted on the bike -the tube fittment will be for a few days when the tyre contours itself to the rim and then can be fitted properly as a tubeless tire-the problem is that the tyre is wide for the rim and some or the other side gets pinched while mounting and starts leaking air .The fact that the X1 radial looks like an Indian Metzeler M5 Sportec inspired(copy) did play a part in my choice-plus i did not want another MRF.Cost of the tyre Rs2750-tube 250-fittment charges rs250-total Rs3250
But but but,now the front braking is SO SO improved that it's like i am riding a different motorcycle -HD should definitely start fitting this motorbike with radials as standard-the regular bias ply MRF's are simply too wimpy/too hard on a bike of this weight and power-where earlier MRF would go skidding CHEEP-CHEEP-CHEEP at the first hint of hard braking with the ABS engaged almost instantly, now all i feel is the smooth deceleration and the ABS activation point is at a lot higher lever pressure and deceleration -But this new found grip is pointing out that the front forks need to be stiffer...........

Good choice Bade bhai, yes mrf makes real hard tyres i too never had the confidence on my Dominar with the mrf but with Apollo w rated rubber the story is diffrent. This rad zoom x1 is any day better than mrf.

Have also added bar end weights to the handlebars-turned from mild steel by my factory lathe man and chrome plated in a nearby chair manufacturing unit -each weighs around 490gms and has been press fitted into the handlebar ends-post 120kmph handlebar vibrations are definitely better as now the rear view mirrors still show what is behind rather than just a hazy picture

The bike also suffered it’s first fall yesterday -entirely my fault-parked the bike on an incline -felt the bike was stable but the moment I got off ,the bike shifted under it’s own weight on the side stand and tipped over-only casualty being lots of scratches on the left side leg gaurd and a small gash on the rear rubber foot ped-and my bruised ego

Went on a ride to basically nowhere-103kms to and fro .On the way met fellow Harley riders one of whom -RUPINDER-was celebrating the completion of 100000kms on his HD Fat Bob-joined them ,congratulated him,and rode back home.Harley had planned a mega get together for RUPINDER but gave it a miss. The highlight of today’s ride was the cool pleasant weather in the morning.

Wow 100000 kms, and your trip to nowhere is super. I need to head out more in search of nowhere. My odo is stuck at 600kms.
