There is too much of a fuss from family and neighbours on pumping up the volume of the system for watching movies in 5.1 or even some loud music.I am planning to buy a good pair of headphones, already have Koss,Audio Technica,Sony Mdr series and Bose but they dont satisfy my above needs.
Can any one suggest a reasonable pair.I had this in mind but they do seem expensive
Amazon.com: Tritton Warhead 7.1 Dolby Wireless Surround Headset - Xbox 360: Video Games
And yes i do require optical in for DTS

Stop wasting money. This is a physiological issue and can never be resolved. Headphones can never come close to replicating the loudspeaker experience.
Each system has its strengths but one cannot replace the other. Compromise is the only solution.

You are right sir
But no one permits me to use the Setups i have with all my home theaters
All my DSP's and the dedicated speakers and components are going a waste. If only i had a seperate AV room for my use.:(
I think i will have to wait for that moment,I have already lost couple of Lacks ruining my hi end equipment consisting of DSP's ,Power amps.Laser disk player,20 cd juke box.,turntables,Nakamichi cassete deck, subwoofers ....Etc Etc Etc

It makes me cry:(

If you must enjoy your awesome collection of audio equipment you need an AV room. There is no way around that.
And even this will help only if you are living in a stand-alone house; flats are bad news.

See if sound proof windows and doors helps. Also use of some sound absorbing material might control the issue a bit. Rest as Anup Sir said a Headphone can't ever replace a good quality speaker. I am also using a Sony Headphone at office but it doesn't match the lovely output of my 5.1 Channel Speakers.

I guess the only solution to my problem is to find an independent home for my systems(i tag along as well)
When and where I leave it to my destiny.Already this cursed flat i am living in has made my life miserable financially, health wise and family relations
Hope for the best:rolleyes:
PS>You really feel like crying watching all the stuff stacked up in racks, switched off

Best avaialble Sound Proof material is Carpet of Your Home.
Use it generously on walls also if possible,
You will feel the difference !

Simply make 6x6 ft cabin of Carpet size (8x8ft, 10x10 ft).
4 walls, 1 roof, 1 on floor.
This is best cabin for You to enjoy sound.

You are right satinder
But i have a pooch and he will not spare the carpet;)
The architecture here is sooo poor that the doors and window of the top most flats vibrate the moment i switch on the subwoofer and i just feel the thrust. attracting the whole neighbourhood this way;)

Then enjoy the Music in Your Car as our
Young Generation does on Roads,
with Glass open.
But You can wind-up the Glasses on window.
