There are places we discover quite unexpectedly and for me, Himalaya Darshan Resort is one of them. I had no intention of going to Kausani, let alone check into Himalaya Darshan Resort. But I ended up there anyways and got a good deal on the resort.
It is located around 6km from the main bazar of Kausani and is somewhat isolated, which adds to the charm of this place.
I chose to stay at deluxe cottage, which are little more secluded and bigger than bamboo cottages. Here are few photos of the cottage.
Cottage was quite specious, and multiple windows added to the view and lighting of the room. The only issue was, Kausani was quite hot and humid when I was there. So I had to use the floor fan, since there is no AC or ceiling fan in the room.
Room service was prompt and courteous, and so was management. Though I was the only guest there on that night.
I ordered pakodas and tea, which were quite decent. And I had Kumauni food for dinner in the form of Maduwe ki Roti, Bhat ki Churkani and Kheere ka Raita. All of which were quite unique, though it was Maduwe kit Roti that I liked most.
Next day breakfast consisted of aloo paratha, omelet, poha and tea, which too were quite good.
Overall Himalaya Darshan Resort is quite a nice and quiet place to stay at and enjoy serenity of Kausani in true form. For Rs. 4,200, it is quite worth it, for Rs. 1700 I paid, it was a steal!
