Bike purchase query for one of my relative:
He's is looking for a bike to purchase. He's planned to discard his 10+ year old platina.
Fixated on TB 350/350x.
But for family commutes (Kid+ wife) and ease on pocket for maintenance I said a TB will not be good. If single then fine.
Daily office commute in traffic of 18 km one way so 36-38 km daily.
Otherwise Unicorn is a very decent bike I said him ticking both comfort and family commute. Is it advisable? He's afraid of back pain for which he's decided on TB. Will unicorn pain his back? I've heard only good about this Unicorn.

Is he suffering from back pain right now?

If yes, then a heavy motorcycle would only aggravate it further.

If he is just worried about it, due to the riding stance of the motorcycle, then tell him to take a test ride of the motorcycles in his budget and go with whatever he finds comfortable.

New RE bikes are good as well, though obviously more expensive to maintain than a Unicorn.

Yes currently he is suffering from it. Altogether bike should not be used but the city traffic chaos is making him buy one plus for local errands. Many RE owners have said him that back pain has reduced after RE usage. Don't know how. All I knew about unicorn is it has very good suspension. Or am I wrong? Suggested him for back to back TD of TB and unicorn too before paying booking amount for TB.
