Hotel Mountview, Pahalgam

During our last visit to Kashmir, we had stayed only for one day in Pahalgam. This time we had decided to give some more time to see the natural beauty of Pahalgam and extend our stay for 2 days. We wanted to stay near Lidder river and hence decided to book Hotel Mountview. After reaching Pahalgam, staff of the hotel suggested us to choose first floor room for great view. But after seeing ground floor room, we decided for the garden view.

Garden is well maintained. We used to relax in the garden watching Lidder river and the helicopters flying for Amarnath with yatris.

This hotel is in the main market. Just come out, eat delicious food from DANAPANI, roam on the main road and relax in the garden.

Rajiv da.. Please help with the tariff and review of hotel. My friend is going to Srinagar next week and will be staying with her family for 1-2 days. 6 people including 1 child.

Hotel MountView (Pahalgam)

This hotel had mixed review, but we still picked it because recommendation from members of various travel forum. To say least, a good hotel is being let down by its staff. The most pathetic front desk and house keeping. The front desk guy aren't professional, from 'not greeting' the guest to 'making fun of guest' behind back; I witnessed such behavior at many instances. The manager thinks, himself a quick witted with enlarged funny bone; in reality is ill-mannered and insults guest. (Witnessed: A bit healthy girl asking for lift for herself and her old parents, was joking told climbing stairs is beneficial for health. Later, mocking her with his peers at reception.)

The attitude of front desk (including all other staff) changes from time of CheckIn to Checkout, from ['I Pretend to Care' to 'We Actually dont Care'. The hotel needs change in management & complete staff to survive.

Good:
- Location. Walking distance to liddle river and good restaurant and market
- Spacious Room & Big Garden
Bad:
- Management & Staff
- Pathetic Housekeeping. (Room Lock not Working, No Drinking Water, Other essential missing during Check-in)
- Careless Front Desk (Even after following up thrice, Water wasn't provided in Room)
- Rooms not upto the mark for price
- Central heating not working in Common Area
- Wifi was not working (not even in common area)
- Very limited and mis-managed car parking
- Horse dung around hotel entry (Horse owner keep their horses ready for guest, spoiling the entrance)

Not recommended

Depends upon the budget, but in same budget you may look for Hotel WoodStock or Hotel Hilltop
But in case, one wanna stay in Pahalgam; I'll suggest staying in Aru/Chandanwadi
