how long for the following cities / towns

hi everyone,

I'm currently working on an itinerary in India and I have a hard time figuring out how long I should spend in the towns and cities I'm interested in, how much there is to see. I'm talking sightseeing only (quick take-one-picture and move on style -a la Chinese tourist buses, and no, I have nothing against people from China, it's just a funny and striking example so that everyone understands what I'm talking about-, a few visits for not-to-avoid buildings, museums...). no need to talk about soaking up the atmosphere as everyone is different (some people would say you need one long day to visit the city of Prague because everything is located in the very same area, others would say one week because it's beautiful and you want to take your time and no one is wrong, really).
numbers of places to visit/take a look at, are most things located in the center or are sites widespread ? it's not about the size of the city only as some big cities don't have much to offer or because everything is located in the same small area and other small towns can take longer to visit because one palace is located in the outskirts and one major temple is in the opposite direction.

here is my list :

Calcutta
Varanasi
Khajuraho
Agra
Jaipur
Pushkar
Bikaner
Jaisalmer
Jodhpur
Udaipur
Bundi
Delhi
Mumbai
Madurai
Thanjavur
Trichy
Kumbakonam
Tirruvanamalai
Kanchipuram
Chennai
Chandigarh
Amritsar

I know that is a lot of places located a bit everywhere in the country but could someone help me with that ?
thank you very much !

Are you from outside india.

U seem to want to travel whole india. is it?
I suggest remove a few not so important cities. And allocate that time to important cities. So you waste less time changing hotels.
Remove big metro cities like calcutta dna chandigarh. No point going in traffic jam.

I am from France. I have to be in Calcutta anyway because I'll be coming from Bangladesh and Chandigarh is on my list because it is so different and I like Le Corbusier (and modern architecture in general).

Hello Possopo
I appreciate your efforts to see lots of India. There is so much to see here that one may need many many months to do that.
Please tell me for how many days you plan to be here in India? The month of your visit? Alone solo or with members?
