How to click good Portraits

Nice portrait! Exotic subject with typical makeup including the piercings. Even though under normal portrait conditions, I would have loved close cropping, here the background instead of distracting, puts the subject in context. Your rapport with the model has brought out a charming, natural smile.

As you rightly pointed, this is was a religious procession, background is important to convey the atmosphere. While other photogs were busy clicking heavily laid kavadis I pointed my cam towards this beautiful lady.
Lady burst into laughter on seeing me clicking her. Later i showed her the pictures I clicked and she was happy to see them.
