What is AAUI ? How can it help ?
What is the process to become its member ?
What all documents/formalities are required ?
How much is the fees ?

Any pointers/links ?

Sir, they are offering membership (Annual membership for 2000/-) which is not an issue, however they can only assist in getting you the IDL.
Hence one will end up in paying the assistance fee for IDL, don't you think getting it done through tout will be much faster and cheaper idea.

Just a thought, incase someone is not interested in other services and want to acquire only IDL asap.

Update, with IDL one can drive in any country of the world.

One may drive on normal Driving License issued by his/her own country, however some countries have language barrier and may not acknowledge the same.

IDL declares that person carrying the same is authorized to drive in more than 40 languages.

Same is made/valid for one yr.

It cannot be renewed/extended, after one yr. one have to undergo the entire process once again.

It is valid ONLY on tourist Visa.

I am going to apply for one today, will update further info thereon, wish me luck

I had IDL/IDP (International driving permit) 2 Years back and had taken it from muzaffarnagar UP. It took me 6 Hours to get it done. Had to provide Medical from CMO office. I have a friend in RTO Office.
Validity is always one year max.
Tried to get another one this year and i was told that I need to provide police verification report from IPS office and really tough task. A few more Even the touts said that it is not worth a try and might not get it even in 10-15 days.

Bottom line, in the name of anti terrorism, they have stringent norms. And I am suffering. I hate Indian government.

Bad luck haunted me like corruption haunts our country, tout promised me IDL in less than 2 hrs for a hefty amount.

However after submitted my D/L, I understood it was made when I was under-age (no age proof was given at that time, only an affidavit did the trick), same was acknowledged while my passport was submitted alongwith.

Result my current Indian driving license was also cancelled :cry:

Now have to apply learners license first and then ........

How come you missed noticing that your DOB was incorrect? You must have gone for a renewal at some point?

Only great men have DOB problems, it seems!

Thats terrible. But please let us know any other documents / Forms to be filled up besides showing Original and producing copies of

1. Passport
2. Valid Visa
3. Indian Driving Licence

Also please clarify the location of the authority?
Did you go to the Authority at Rajpura road or at Mall Road ?
