How to Watermark/Copyright Photographs

You need an image editing program to insert copyright notice, though there are several softwares available, I’ll be using Irfanview in this example.
Step 1: open the photograph and edit and resize it to your liking.
Step 2 press and drag over the area where you want the copyright notice to appear (like in the image below).
Step 3: Click on edit and then click on insert text into selection.
Step 4: choose the fonts, size, color etc. and type the copyright notice and click ok and it will appear on the selected area
Ps. topic moved to photography section and made a sticky to be beneficial for more people.

Another batch processing way is to open irfan view.
Press B, brings up batch processing dialog. select images you wish to convert, output format, then under that there is advanced options. under that dialog box, select overlay text, and choose appropriate location. works for basic stuff just fine.
for complexer watermarking with images/text et al, simple script with windows DIR command, perl etyadi se search replace and imagemagick commands all into one batch file - much less complicated than it sounds

I may be wrong, but from what I recall, photographs taken by you are copyrighted automatically, notice or no notice. I guess the notice just serves as proof. Kinda clueless on that.
