Re: Copyright of photos - how it can be done??

Good for you! Batch marking? I don't have a clue!!

That video (YouTube) is very very poor.
Suggest you download the executable (zipped) that I am uploading here.
This is a clipped version, as YS does not even allow zipped files of 1.4 mb size to be uploaded!

For batch marking what you can do is to save the procedure of watermarking as Photoshop action.
[The Action tab next to the History tab in PS small windows, there you'll see action recorder button, play button, Steps:
1. Create a new action using the Create action button and name it as Copyright or whatever.
2. Start recording by pressing the record button.
3. Start your PS action of watermarking
4. Once your watermarking done then stop the recording
5. Save the action
And you are done] .. Then run that action using File->Automate->Batch and selecting the action for watermarking for the batch of photographs.
Regards,
KonfuSed (and I hope I've not confused you more ;-))

Just my two cents worth..
While I can see the reasoning behind watermarking for professional purposes I wonder if it is really much of a concern for amature photography?
A small corner watermark can look quite classy but I find myself skipping over photos that have a large mark in the center. I guess it takes something away from the photo to me.

Better still,

~Create a new .PSD file.
~Use the method suggested by Yogesh or Anup to type the text you want as watermark.
~Put whatever effects you may want on this by going to the blending options and playing with the various options (Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options).
~Save the file as a .psd file.
~Every time you want to use the watermark, open the psd file, hold the Ctrl key and drag the text to the image you want to put a watermark on.
~Press Ctrl + E to merge the layer with the image.
~Save the watermarked image.

While a centre watermark does take away a lot from a photo, is there a way around it?
A small, 'classy' corner watermark is so easy to crop out of a photo. And then your photo finds it's way into some unscrupulous user's blog!

What can/would you do?

Very often, the photo does not even have to be an exceptionally good piece of work to suffer such a fate.
And more often than not amateurs take better pics than professionals!

Complicated, eh? :)

Anup, there are two kinds of watermarks
1. Obvious watermarks.
2. Hidden watermarks.
If you pic is stolen, then a hidden watermark is a good idea to claim ownership
Visible watermark in the sidelights can be easily cropped out.

Tanveer, could you please give an example of a hidden watermark?

And anyway, nobody wants to get into the sheer hassle of re-claiming (!!) ownership. Isn't it best to preclude the possibility? :)

(re-claiming your life by buying a Safari is understandable!!)
