been there recently. will post some pics which i have taken. felt bad for the local people. no work and no facilities. just that the tea is taken from there to the nearby estate about 40 kms away and they are paid a pittance. so they survive. but the place is beautiful.

Wow..that's nice . when did you go there and how was the experience? from the pics it seems you were allowed to go around factory. Usually a manager is seen there with couple of his 'hench-men'. They go home only on sundays and won't allow us to click around factory. But we had covered the factory in the first two trips. Thanks for sharing the pics sir. Hope you got an overall view from the watch tower. Tea is now being taken to a factory near Ponmudi, 2-3 times a week.

View from watch tower to the Bonacaud estate area. Have marked the factory in another pic along with this. What you see in the lower portion of the frame is the Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary (WLS). Behind the estate/ factory section is the Agasthya mountain, clad in partial mist. If you climb up the top left side of the frame and negotiate through the thick forest and go down, you can reach Ponmudi or Kallar (downstream of Ponmudi) area and it would lead to Shenduruny WLS.

View of Peppara dam catchment areas in the Peppara WLS (bottom half) from the watchtower. Beyond the dam lies the Neyyar WLS, again low visibility due to mist

the distant engine sound of the road transport corp. bus breaks the sounds – that of the howling wind and waterfall down the valley. there seems to be a sense of rhythm in the way in which the bus climbs up the hill, shifting gears and the sudden stop before negotiating the hairpin bends. Then, for fleeting moments, one can hear the sound of the waterfall again, only to be broken by the sound of the engine once more..
