Increase Bajaj Pulsar’s headlight intensity by 170%!

I have a Pulsar 180 UG4 (Sept 2009). Wanted to upgrade the headlight as suggested in this topic. Read a couple of pages before that this is not possible on UG4 with a stator upgrade as this version comes with Full DC electricals. Any other way to upgrade to 60W headlamps?.
My bike is still in stock condition apart from tyre upgrades (Pirelli SportDemons :)). Didn't want to go through any slicing of wires or coil rewinding as reliability is the top priority. My bike hasn't left me stranded anywhere in the past 3 years (touch-wood) hope to keep it that way.

Hi All

I have a Pulsar 135 LS & I am planning to use the avenger`s coil in that for the upgrades of the head lamp to 55/60 one :) since I need to travel around 25 KM daily at night time.

I have following queries

1) Will the Avenger`s coil - DV 1110 05 fit directly in Pulsar 135 LS physically ?
2) Do I need to drain off the engine oil before the replacement?
2) Will the connectors match?
3) Do I need to change the RR also?

Request all the members to reply soon.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Question: Would changing the coil plate affect the CDI Unit? As in overload/wear out, etc? (I have a 2006 make Pulsar 180 UG2 - Analog Meters)
Yesterday my bike shut off at a traffic light & wouldn't switch on. Had a local mechanic check it. After a lot of tinkering, finally he pointed out there was some problem with the current flow. I pushed the bike home.
Tried switching it on aaj before pushing it to the regular mechanic. It came to life w/o any issues.
Had it checked with the regular mechanic nonetheless. He said my old CDI unit was failing/faulty. (Didn't check with a multimeter. He showed me the sparks from the spark plug wires. The old CDI unit had weaker sparks, compared to the new one.)
Changed the CDI Unit to a Varroc one for 630Rs + 50 Labour. MRP on Box said 687 I think.
He took a test ride, then said there are some sort of misfiring issues, and then earthed the power by connecting a wire from the wire plug coming out from the coil plate to a Nut on the engine.

I'm just curious if the entire issue was due to the coil plate, since changing the coil plate/head lamp is the only major change I've done in the bike electricals.

Sorry no idea, but I doubt it will fit.

It shouldn't cause any problem. I have been running it for over 4 years now, so far, so good.

You only need to change the stator plate, nothing else needs to be changed.

Hi all,

For better brightness, installed Avenger 180 coil (Part No: DV111005) in my pulsar 150 dtsi ug1. I put one TVS 55w/60 H4 bulb with stock wiring and holder. Within one month, the holder meleted. Mechanic told that it was due to heavy load and the bulb was chinese one. So I repaced thicker wires and H4 holder used in cars. Also gave the spare bulb of my Santro Xing (Halonix). Was working fine for 3 moths. Then suddenly, the low beam stopped working, then high beam also stopped working within few days. The Mechanic told it was problem with the wiring and he replaced the wires. The same bulb was used. But within a week, the problem resurfaced, the low beam stopped working and high beam was flickering. Last saturday, when i started the bike, there was burning smell and smoke started coming out from near the battery. I belive something shorted. So Disconnected the battery and later, smoke subsided. but burnt smell is still there. Mechanic suspects that rats might be the culprit. There were similar instances before in the flat where I live. He asked me to take it to Bajaj ASS and get it checked and replace wiring Harness completely. Any other options in Cochin ? What else could be done ?

One thing I noticed after disconnecting the battery is that High Beam and Low Beam are working perfectly. Self start, Indicators and Horn are not working, but I am able to ride the bike. The horn is an aftermarket one(pair for Roots Windtone) connected to battery.

Please help.

In all likelihood there is a short somewhere, best option would be to take the bike to service center and get the wiring harness replaced, in any case it is likely 9 years old and in need of replacement.

Wiring Harness-Self Start(DJ201245)- Rs 1300,
wiring harness replacement (labour) -Rs 300,
Regulator(DJ201016)-Rs 360
