Back to airline food, my general experience is that it is almost uniformly disguised sawdust in various forms and shapes. ....
 Et tu, Bruté!
Bashing airline food has been a fashion that has endured, but I have found, more often than not, that there are some excellent meals to be had in the air!
Air France, Cathay Pacific, Canadian and Japan Airlines come to mind readily!
Though I dare say I have never opted for 'Hindu' Meals. Always 'local' meals of the flag state.

I should have said:
Domestic, Domestic, Domestic!
Jet international fare was passable the last time I travelled

That is true, AI international flights Indian food is not bad either - the last time I travelled - long back.

Hi,

Has anyone tried Fruit Platter served in Kingfisher or Jet Airways as part of meal?
Would like to know the quality, quantity and freshness.
Dont want to land up with 2 slices of apple and 1 banana for meal in stale state.

Thanks

Viny,

What kinda flight are we talking about? International or Domestic.
It would also help if one knows the origin and destination. I've got a few friends with Jet and Air India in their catering department, will ask them if you give more information.

As an alternative, you can always carry your own choice of fruits onboard and have them whenever you need to.

Cheers !

I happened to meet a neighbour's relative yesterday who works as an Air India cabin crew for more than twenty years. During the course of the conversation, she let drop that on flights from India to the Gulf, the food for the Gulf to India route is carried from India, even at the height of summer, to save money. She also said that their cooling system does not work properly most of the time!

No idea how true this is, or if it is a normal practice with airlines in general to carry food for return routes from the point of origin of the flight.

All I can say atleast KF (for that matter almost every indian airlines, be it domestic or international) sucks in terms of food quality/variety.

All they serve for proper dinner is Dal/Chawal and pathetic so called kheer.

They are only good @KF beer.

Better to have your tummy full before you start or carry your own food ;)

Taken the KF Flight, following where offered

Fruit platter: 2pcs of pineapple cubes, 4pcs grapes, 4pcs of watermelon, 2 pcs of mosambi

Other than this they offered a hot dog kind of stuff to all others, named as veg meal.

Nice to know about food options. On International flights Non-Vegg. always good and drinks as much you want. For vegitarian Asian Veggie meal is fine. I was flying with Singapore airline and from Seoul to Vancouver they served me plate of white rice and a piece of tomato on it. I just ate it.

Now I will to fly with Jet connect fom Lucknow to Delhi and there is no free food on flight. Let us see how it work.
