Dear All,

I would like to know some facts regarding Leh flight as I am planning for my maiden visit to the region on September 01, 2018. Hope you will help

1. Which airline is best for Delhi to Leh sector in terms of cost and service?

2. Which flight have minimum chances to cancel between 05 am to 10 am?

3. For cheap ticket how many days prior booking required?

Thanks in advance to all BCMT members for the informations.

1. Air Vistara and Jet Airways are the best bet, with Air India coming in on their place and Go Air.

2. Nothing of that sorts early in the season, though earlier your flight, better the view of mountain peaks will be (choose left hand side seats while going to Leh.)

3. Whenever there is good discount available. Generally for season (May to July), flight tickets are extremely expensive if you havent booked early in the year.

Travelled many times on air India, go air and jet. All flights landed, delayed sometimes but landed nonetheless.
There are almost nil chances of flight getting cancelled due to bad weather in September. So don't worry.
As for cheap tickets, you need to keep tracking daily. I have travelled on tickets as cheap as 800rs! Tickets are generally cheaper around and after september end.

Nope it was no sale event. I track prices daily and one such day in Sep 2017 there were a couple of days when tickets were 800-1000rs for feb and march 2018 booking (Air India). Didnt think even once before proceeding ahead.
For all such days only 2 seats were available for booking. My booking for march didnt go through since someone else might have booked but I was successful in booking for feb. It was also pretty difficult to find return days also for same prices. But finally did the return trip in 3200 for two people! :D

Next lowest price I have booked on is 1200rs per person one way. This was in Jan 2017.

Thanks Yogesh Sarkar and gkapoor for your expert opinion..
Basically I am a budget traveler. I will start my journey from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I have plan to fly from dhaka to kolkata then kolkata to delhi on 31st August 2018. then catch early morning flight to Leh. 3 flying segments badly impacted on my budget. So I may not have any other way except go air. because it's offer USD 112 currently for September flight though I have bad experience {cancellation} with goair on my previous Kashmir trip.
Currently go air shown 4 flights on September and I am bit sure they may cancel some before some days.

Two more suggestions please: Should I buy the ticket right now ? When airlines offers sale on Leh flight usually?

Go Air operates maximum number of flight to Leh and they don't cancel flights unless there is some technical issue. However, they aren't the best at managing things and charge for just about everything, be it window or aisle seats at time of web check-in. Air India, Jet Air Ways and Air Vistara are full price carrier and serve meal in the flight. So they might be worth spending a little bit more, if the price difference isn't that much.

Generally all airlines have sales every month or two. It really comes down to your luck in such cases and whether or not any discounted seats are left in the flight you're trying to book.
