Had the pleasure of staying there a few weeks back. had got a dbl bedroom hut with a balcony & a kitchen facing the woods for 3500 bucks.

The hut was cozy and the weather was cool and got cold at night. They have generator that runs till 10 pm in case of power outage. Normally electricity doesnt go out between 10-6am.

3500 ? Ain't that expensive ?

Not really, as it is double bedroom, so basically you can sleep 4 adults + kids.

PP cost comes to 800 or so. rooms are available for 2200 and single bedroom huts for 3200.

These huts are much better than lot of hotels that have now cropped up as the huts are surrounded by forests. Hotels have become clustered and do not provide the same ambience as a hut.

Patnitop being a major tourist destination and the huts are for 4 adults the price seems to be good.

I agree, Eric.
For Patnitop, during season, Rs.3500/- for a 2 bedroom cottage if a very fair price.
Also keeping in mind that they are a little 'away from the madding crowd'!

The funny thing is JKTDC doesn't even have a proper website. So you can't look up for rates.

They should take note of how KMVN and GMVN went about publishing tourism content on their website with facilities of looking up status and then booking rooms online at every facility they own.

And the first two results when you search JKTDC Log Huts Patnitop are from BCMT.

Almost correct. Though you mustn't forget that Google throws up results based essentially on search string.
This is what I could muster:

Nothing on Patnitop. But this might help: http://fotogal.net/gal_images/kirti/kashmir/362
They do have a long way to go! :D
