Sainj of Sainj Valley, rather the small Sainj after Kingal, where the road bifurcates into two, one leading towards Jalori Pass and another going towards Rampur Bushahr.
There is Sarahan too nearby and not that Sarahan.

I think at this sainj you cross Sutlej. One bank is Kilodhar wnd across is Sainj.

I took this route while driving to Chindi from Narkanda.

Nice travelogue. Loved the pics.
I have always longed to live in a place like this. Just pure bliss, nothing else.
Maybe someday I will retire there.

I think alcohol content of bottle was not 40 percent proof as should have been.

I have also experienced such issues with known brands Like Magic Moments or other vodka at times, even when brought in Delhi and not highways .
I have experienced this in shops in Lucknow too. Drank half bottle of Smirnoff and all I felt was a heavy stomach.

awesome pics Yogesh and writing too. how I wish to be there .........

BTW: I would recommend that you get a lifesaver straw, it is small insurance against water quality.

I have it and I barely use it. It leaks and due to its design it accumulates dust at the mouth of the bottle. Not really a good option for dusty conditions of India.

375 ml * 2/3 = 250ml.
Now considering that Rum was 40% proof i.e. rest 60% is water then
250 * 40/100 = 100ml of pure Alcohol.

Considering 1unit of alcohol is approx 12 ml of pure alchol.
Then: 100/12 = 8 units of Alcohol.

While a resonable Kick starts from 1 to 2 units of pure Alcohol or simply @ 1 or 2 pegs of 30 ml liquid poured from liqour bottle .

Safe limit is 3 units or 90 ml of hard liqour.

8 units or 8 pegs is binge drinking, if that too did not gave kick but headache and maybe acidity next day then such alcohol brand is useless.

Anyway Great pictures, I think scenery shown is much more intoxicating then any man made spirit.
That is quite a bit of math, it was supposed to be 42%, so yes, it might have been useless. Though body also reacts differently to alcohol at different times.

Kinner Kailash must be having a in-house Bar like Hotel Hatu, Narkanda.
No bar or bar menu, at least as far as I could tell.

There is Sarahan too nearby and not that Sarahan.

Yes, that is the Sainj I ended up at.

A lot of us are dreaming for that, but with so many people, limited land and backpackers willing to cross and pitch tents anywhere, there won't likely be peace for a long time, until it is maintained by a shotgun :D.

I hope you did not consumed too many fried Pakore before starting the drink.
Although a good well aged vintage Spirit will work even on partially filed stomach.

But this concept of empty stomach and no chai e.t.c. couple of hours before Drinks confuses me too.

Another thing I suspect and very common thing in hills is Presence of 'Bhang' in Pakore or accompanying Green chutney.
Even mild presence will make alcohol ineffective to stimulate brain.

I never drink without having something to eat first and prefer drinking milk an hour or two before, to protect the stomach if possible.

Dreams Do Come True.

Friday night, I was sitting in Starbucks at Cyber Hub Gurgaon, sipping coffee and reading Tolstoy’s Short Stories. Out of nowhere, a thought came in my mind that I shared on my social media account, “A small hut in the midst of the Himalayas, surrounded by miles and miles of electrified fence to keep others at bay, is all I need.”

By the time I came back home (past midnight), I was set on the idea to travel to the Himalayas.

I had been away from them for far too long and it was now time for me to escape to my hermitage.

I initially zeroed in on Shangarh in Sanjh Valley.

I was elated to find a direct bus from Delhi to Sanjh and that too a deluxe AC. However, it seem odd that HRTC would take the longer route via Shimla and Jalori Pass to Sanjh, rather than going via Aut. After scratching my head for a while, I finally booked the ticket at 12:46 pm on 6th April, just 6 and a half hours before its departure from Delhi.

Now, it was time to pack.
