Kareri Lake Trek

Hello Friends - Need suggestions/advise on Kareri lake trek itinerary. I am going with 3 of my office colleagues.

Plan to start from Faridabad 9/16 at between 2-3 PM (logging half a day of office).
Reach somewhere in between Delhi and Dharamsala (Chandigarh or Roper) past sunset and take a night halt.
Start early morning 9/17, reaching Dharamsala by noon.
Park our car somewhere in Dharamsala and hire a taxi/jeep to Kareri Village.
Reach Kareri village by 5 PM and opt into a homestay or Rest house there.
Start trek early morning 9/18, reaching lake by 4 PM
Camp overnight at the lake
Start descend 9/19 by 10 AM reaching Kareri Village by evening.
Stay overnight at Kareri village or Dharamsala.
Start return journey on 9/20.

Please advise on:

Is it ok to take our own vehicle (I am driving my Maruti Ertiga, 57K odo reading), from Dharamsala to Kareri village (or Ghera). if not, is there a safe or known parking spot in Dharamsala?

At Kareri village, any suggestion for stay or a number to call in and prebook?

Is it worth hiring a guide for this trek?

I am not too sure if there's space for overnight camp at the Lake, I read somewhere that one needs to camp 4 km before the lake, is that so?

How cold would it be right now at the lake? Should we carry light woolens or heavier ones.

Lastly, does the itinerary look feasible or should there be some change or addition.

Thanks
Nikhil

Returned yesterday from Kareri lake trek. Replying to my own questions :)

Is it ok to take our own vehicle (I am driving my Maruti Ertiga, 57K odo reading), from Dharamsala to Kareri village (or Ghera). if not, is there a safe or known parking spot in Dharamsala?
>>>No, Motorable road only till Ghera village. Beyond Ghera, bikes can go but not up to Kareri. There's a massive landslide before Kareri (2-3 kms). Some jeeps ply beyond Ghera to a village in between Ghera and Kareri, but its not advisable to take your own vehicle, its a heck of a ride. We parked our car at Ghera.

At Kareri village, any suggestion for stay or a number to call in and prebook? - Homestays available with locals. FRH Kareri - Watchman's number is - 9736525486. His name is Uttam.

Is it worth hiring a guide for this trek? - Advisable. There's a fair chance of getting lost !!

I am not too sure if there's space for overnight camp at the Lake, I read somewhere that one needs to camp 4 km before the lake, is that so? - No good space around lake. Moreover, its full of filth due to the cattles that graze around. We could hardly find a space for our tent.

How cold would it be right now at the lake? Should we carry light woolens or heavier ones. - Advisable.

Lastly, does the itinerary look feasible or should there be some change or addition. - Very much :). We did almost as planned, with few minor changes.
