In my opinion, Mid july would be the best time since nowadays it starts raining in first week of August itself. I was on another trek in Kashmir this year in first week of Jan and on 2nd day, it rained like hell :) But I would cover that trek as part of another travelogue ;-)

Fabulous pictures for both Kashmir high altitude lake and Tarsar Marsar Lake treks. If we had a choice to do one, which would you recommend? Also what is the best time to do the same (least crowds)?

In my opinion, High Altitude Lake trek is much more diverse and beautiful than the Tarsar Marsar one. But in my opinion, its just too crowded these days. In case, if you are planning to go for it, its best to avoid camping dates of TTH and Indiahikes (which might be difficult considering the number of batches that they plan these days). June might be too early to do it since the high passes might be still blocked. So anytime between July to first week of Aug should be good (assuming it doesn't start pouring!!)
