Hi Virendra,

Sorry for the delay in response on this thread. Have not been too active on social platforms for sometime now due to personal commitments elsewhere. Like I had mentioned earlier this has been a great effort from your side to consolidate a road-map for Himachal & Kashmir. Specially the Trans-Himalayan region.

Some comments which should help you make the map more accurate:
  • Zanskar Region: The road extends beyond Zangla all the way till Hanumil for another 25kms at least. This section of the road is in a wide valley after which the narrow Zanskar river Chadar trek begins. It might have been extended even more - this status is as of July '11.
  • Zanskar Region: The road going south of Padum is complete almost all the way till Itchar and goes a good 18km beyond Reru. This reduces the Phugtal monastery trek by a day! You might want to change your map to reflect this - specially for trekkers.
  • South of Lamayuru : There is a 4WD Track that goes from Phanijla - over Sisir LA and goes down till Photoksar. I have not been on this road - however have heard about it from multiple sources. This should reduce the no. of trekking days between Lamayuru to Padum.
  • South of Nimmu : Nimmu - Padum road - The road extends beyond Chilling for another 12km as of July '11. Should reduce the Chadar trek for those interested.
  • There is a road which goes west of Debring (before Tanglang La) then turns north towards Yar La and then climbs down towards villages of Dat / Datgo. I have not heard of anyone using this road but have seen only pictures of it in some trekking log. This should be at least 70-100km in length.
  • Manali - Leh: Beyond Darcha - the road is complete all the way till Zanskar Sumdo. For those trying the Darcha - Padum trek this cuts shorts the trek by at least two days.
  • Lower Lahal: From Udaipur a road cuts north towards Miyad valley for a good 20-25km till the end of road at Miyad village. Beyond that a trek begins from there to Padum.

I will list more inputs as an when I think about it :)

Hi Virendra,

I will list more inputs as an when I think about it :)
Dear Harsh,

Noted.

These observations will be addressed in v1.3, which will be a major upgrade.

In the mean time, keep pouring in with inputs. :)

I was wondering whether, ukdungle track (near hanle) shud be made green in color???
