Hi All,

I'm planning to travel to Kashmir in second week of March from 8th till 15th and will be driving my own car.

Need feedback/recommendation for hotels in Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg. I'm not looking for resorts or star accommodation but decent and clean accommodations. Based on some feedback available over the internet, I have shortlisted some hotels. Can you please share firsthand experiences/reviews of these places or any other good recommendations

Also, it is advisable to pre-book or spot book the hotel as it will be an off-season?

Day 5- 12th March- Gulmarg - JKTDC
Day 6- 13th March- Gulmarg to Sonamarg - Drive Inn
Day 7- 14th March- Sonamarg to Jammu
Day 8- 15th March- Jammu to Ghaziabad

Day 1, I would suggest to stay at JKTDC Batote, much much better than KUD JKTDC and they serve food. Kud JKTDC will not serve food, you will have to go to the market for food. No need to book, they have many rooms starting 800 Rs to 1500 Rs. You can check the rooms and decide. 1200 Rs room where we stayed, have the electric blankets as well. And safe parking facility.

Day 2: We loved Mount View, its costly, I would suggest get in touch with Sunny Kashmir (BCMT member) and he can get a much much better deal at Mount View, but I will recommend advance booking here as not many hotels are open in winter and Mount View runs full even in winter. Advance booking will ensure room with best view, which at the back side. They also have electic blanket and central heating, though central heating has some time limits which I don't remember. Food is on the costly side, so you can walk outside for few of the restaurants in market. Safe parking facility here as well

Day 4 : No ideas about Gulmarg JKTDC, but most of the good hotels remain full in winter, I will not suggest taking a chance here. Specially JKTDC remains full due to value for money it offers.

Day 6 : I guess it should ok to just walk in for Sonmarg, but you need to make sure if its open. In Jan it was open upto Gagan Gir only.

Day 7 : We stayed at Hotel Ritz at Jammmu bypass and its a fantatic hotel for night stay. Will cost you around 2500-3000. You can just walkin and no advance booking required

Thanks alot RK for your recommendations....will try to get in touch with SunnyKashmir. Saw your recent Kashmir trip log and pics are simply amazing.
