I have always been an trekking freak, but due to my recent posting in Mumbai for the last 4 years, I could not get an opportunity to trek in the mighty Himalayas. though during my stay in Mumbai I had ample opportunity to trek in the Sayadri range and did almost all the famous or even lessor famous treks there. Sahyadri range is equally beautiful and specially its forts {which are in ruins now due to lack of care by Marathi people and govt}, but the thrill to trek in Himalayas is always alive in me.
Fortunately recently I got a transfer to Chandigarh and I was more happy with the idea to trek in Himalayas than with coming back to my hometown.
However now I was looking for a trek I should go for. and started searching on the internet for some high altitude fun.
Ultimately I zeroed upon Kedartal trek.
The reason for going for it was that I will be able to visit Maa Gangotri {A sacred Hindu place} after a long gap and also Kedartal was always on my TO DO LIST.
However as I am all solo so I had to search for some trekking group or company to join and after a lot of research I finalized one trekking company. {I am withholding its name so that it doesn't look like that I am promoting some particular co.

Now the bigger challenge was my fitness. As the co was clear in its rules that the trekker should be able to run 5 kms in 35 minutes or cycling for some fix kms in fix time {now I don't remember the time for cycling as I opted for a run.
As I am 58+ so fitness was a challenge. Also I didn't was to be burden on group or to risk the group or myself, so I started running and ultimately one day I tried and did it.

DAY 0:--
Today was 1 Oct and the trek was to start from tomorrow, so I packed my rucksack and booked a volvo from Chandigarh to Dehradun. I also booked online ,Hotel Drone {GMVN Hotel in Dehradoon for night stay} as the vehicle was to take us from Dehradoon to Gangtori on next day morning.
I reached Dehradoon late night and directly took an auto to reach my pre booked hotel.
Hotel was good and staff courteous, so there was no issue.
After dinner in the hotel restaurant I went for a late night sleep, with dreams of trek.
DAY 1:--
We had booked our tempo traveler in the early morning from 6 am. I got up early and took a bath {As chances are that after reaching Gangotri, I may not be able to have a bath for many days}, and got an auto and reached the venue for our getting together for vehicle.
Many of the co trekkers were already there as they were staying in the same hotel of our departure, so we got into the vehicle and started at about 6.15am.
Journey to gangotri was uneventful and having some halts for breakfast, lunch tea etc we reached Gangotri at about 5pm.
Our trek leader Dushyant was already there on the bus stand to receive us and we all went to Birla Sadan, {Our base camp for the trek},rooms were allotted {Dormitory} and I took a bed near the window.
Temple was clearly visible from window as it was on the other side of river.
we had a cup of tea with Pakoras and I immediately went for darshan of Maa Ganga ji.
Had darshan at the main temple. There was very less people {might be due to Corona} so I had heartful pooja and then went to Ganga ji to wash my face {no question in this evening time for a bath}.
Evening Aarti was at 7pm, and we attended the same. After a stroll in the market, I reached base camp again.
We had a sumptuous dinner and retired for the day to give relaxation to our exhausted and tired limbs from long journey.
