Day - 2
It was a windy and chili morning. I woke up early to the chanting of bhajans from temple and sounds of people visiting for early darshan.
after my morning rituals and after a cup of tea, I put on my shoes and went to temple.
there were very few people there. However it was a calm and serene site.
After a small stroll I came back as our group leader Dushyant had to take us to a morning walk - cum - acclimatization walk.
we all of the group assembled in the courtyard of Birla Sadan and came to temple.
there was an option of either to go to Uttarkashi side on the road for a walk or on the Gaumukh side.
As we were not to go to Gaumukh so we decided to go that side. the route starts from the temple side and goes slightly upward. it was a beautiful sight. we reached on the upper side and now the temple and gangotri village was below us. it was a magnificent view. after some time, sun also started coming up and we had a beautiful view of sunrise.
Dushyant was having some app in his mobile, which if the camera of the phone directed towards any peak, will recognize it and will show all the other prominent peaks near by.
it could also show the peaks in 3D. it was wonderful. we tried recognizing the different peaks.
after an acclimatization walk we came after about one hour.
after freshening up and breakfast, we were asked to assemble for a long acclimatization walk to Pandu Gufa, Bhagirath Shilla, Suraj Kund etc. we were supposed to come back till lunch.
We all went for the same. the views of river Maa Gangan and valley were really unmatched.

We all took a small water bottle, our camera, some eatables etc and went for an acclimatization walk toward Pandav Gufa side. the route goes along the route to Kedartal and after some time Kedartal route cuts off to mountain side and we went along the river.
The beautiful water fall at Suraj Kund, the museum of Baba Sunderanand ji and further walk to Pandav gufa are beautiful. on enjoyed our walk of about 2 hrs and on return back we even tried a meditation stop for about 15-20 minutes.
That was a wonderful experience to meditate in the woods and in the serene surroundings of Gangotril
After that we came back and after a sumptuous lunch some of trekkers slept for some time and I used the time to arrange my luggage and rucksack.
The organizers asked us to take only the essential items and to store the extra luggage at base camp only so almost 40% of rucksack was free now, as we were to take only the items for 4 days of trek only.
In the evening, Dushyant had a long session for instructions, advises and discussed about the route. we also met our support team there for the first time.
After an easy day, I went for an early sleep, dreaming for the trek ahead from morning.

Day 3 :-Gangotri to Bhoj Kharar
Today was the D Day. it was though technically our 3rd day but today the actual trek was to be starting.
Early morning I went to temple to take divine blessings for a safe trek, and after breakfast we all were ready for trek.
the group leader Dushyant gave last minute instructions and we started.
the route is from the right side of river Ganga and as we all were already on the right side of Ganga ji in Birla sadan, so we crossed the river Kedar Ganga through an iron bridge. Now our trek will be along with this Kedar Ganga river and we are supposed to go till Kedar Taal which is the origin of this tributary to Ganga ji.
after crossing the rivulet and passing by the Suraj Kund, a diversion goes up side. this was to be the start of trek.
first day trek was told to be very tough and we were to go up up and up only.
starting 2 kms were really very tough as the gradient was almost 70-80degree, but the views were so beautiful that we were lost in the same. in starting about 1 km Gangotri town was visible from a bird's eye view but soon we were on the other side of the mountain. Now the trek was along with Kedar Ganga rivulet.
after some time we reached the famous (sometimes infamous) spider wall. in almost all the travelogues you will find that crossing of the spider wall is the most trickyest part but when we reached the spider wall, it didn't look any scary. however we found that now one another route has been made for bypassing the spider wall and that was that now we had to go down the mountain and then it was very easy to cross the same.
after crossing the spider wall we had our packed lunch and started again.
after that as now the tree line was far behind the scenery was very beautiful and the valley was more wide now.
we reached Bhoj Kharak at about 4 in the evening. today's trek was most difficult due to length and the gradient. but we all were fully fit and acclimatized so there was no problem with anyone.
We had our evening tea with Pakoras and then pitched our tents.
everyone was trying to find a place from where the views would be the best, We were 3 persons in each tent. and after strolling for some time, we had our early dinner and went to our tents for an early sleep.

Day 4:-
Bhoj Kharak to Kedar Kharak
Today's trek was small in length and even the gradient to achieve was also not much. so we all were in no hurry and rather having a leisure time to start.
We woke up a bit late and then had a small stroll nearby to click photos.
After breakfast, our group leader briefed us about today's trek. it was to be a small trek upto Kedar Kharak.
Many groups which want to go a bit further normally go upto Kedartal lake itself and camp over there. However our programme was to go only upto Kedar Kharak today.
As during today's trek, we had to cross some difficult zones where there were chances of rock falls, we put on our helmets {the heavy helmets, which we were carrying for this purpose only.
however the trek today was easy one and by lunch time we reached Kedar Kharak after a trek of about 3-4 hrs. We pitched our tents and set up kitchen tent. After lunch we rested a bit and then went for a walk to explore near by areas for about 1-2 hrs.
today was easy day and all of us were totally fit. our group leader Dushyant was regularly taking measurements of our hear beat, pulse rate etc from day 0 and monitoring it.
after an early dinner we retired to our tents. Tomorrow was going to be the day, we were looking forward. Our day to visit Kedar tal.

Day 5
Kedar Kharak to Kedar tal and back
Today was our D day, the day we were longing for, such a long time.
We were supposed to go upto Kedar tal today and to come back.
today's trek was only for about 2 hrs, thought the gradient was very steep. we woke up early in the morning and set up for the trek while it was still a bit dark. we wanted to reach Kedartal as early as possible and if possible then to get sunrise on the Thalesagar peak.
As kedar Kharak camp site is in the base of mountain so though we had very good views of sun set, the previous day, but sunrise was to be on the mountain side and there was no chance to getting its views from Kedar Kharak.
we starting going up and our guide and team leader Dushyant were leading us. we were trekking on boulders now and there was no set trek path there. there were some stone cairns and we were going up along with them.
though our guide was there was as there is no set route, so even he was finding it difficult to locate the path.
Anyway after about 2 hrs we reached the top of ridge and got the very first view of Kedartal lake.
it was the most beautiful scene to be seen. I just sat on a boulder for about half an hours and tried to digest the mountain beauty, which can not be described by words but it is only to be seen by visiting personally.
After taking lots and lots of photos of mount Thalaiysagar and kedartal I went down to the lake.
I was carrying some items for pooja so I went to place where a flag was put by some locals and devotees. I offered my thanks to Almighty for giving us a safe and good trek and a chance to visit such a beautiful place.
after spending about 2-3 hrs at the lake and taking lots of photos, we came back to our camp at Kedar Kharak.
all of us were very happy to have a decent weather and views and enjoyed the today's trek very much.
