KMVN Tourist Rest House, Mukteshwar.
Excellent location (higher than the PWD Rest House), parking space, but no garden.
About 6 to 7 rooms, one being a four bedded for Rs.1800/-. Other DBRs are Rs.1300/-. No geysers in the bathrooms and no TVs in the rooms! First time I saw such impoverished Tourism Department Hotel rooms! Not worth the money, frankly.
Large dining room is there and food was well cooked (we asked for mutton and chicken).

Such was the weather on All Fools Day - only cloud, no snow-covered peaks!

That PWDRH takes the cake IMO! The only KMVN I know which doesnt have the best possible location in a picturesque area!

When i was there in Oct 2007 there was no water in the rooms. They depend on a water tanker which is unreliable. They do not have a borewell.
Just below the Kmvn Guest house there is a Pwd Rest house.Jim corbet stayed there.There is one book written by him on display there.Absolute must see.The care takers name is Binit. His mother will dish out wholesome veg and non veg food.By the way did you try the trek to sitla from Mukteshwar.

Indeed. The water is brought from Bhimtal and they pay Rs.1000/- per tanker.

Looks nice, but having unreliable water is quite a deal breaker. I love the mountains!

KMVN Mukteshwar is quite expensive for budget tourers,whats everybody take on staying at KMVN Ramgarh Kumaon or KMVN Bhowali Kumaon.Which is best place of the two...??
I'm waiting for replies guys..

Zayn, KMVN has, in trying to imitate HPTDC, raised it's tariffs to unreasonable levels! They are not half as professional as HPTDC.
Budget tourers can always find far cheaper alternatives.

KMVN, Bhowali is reasonably priced since there is no great view and no particular USP that it has to offer! But then, Bhowali is a crossroads and very convenient place to use as base.

Thanks Sir for reply,yes KMVN are far batter then HPTDC guest houses,but new tariff rate of year 2010-2011 has increase the rates of KMVN and GMVN,I recently visited Dhanolti and there room rent has increased from 200-250Rs thats reasonable.
but how is Ramgarh KMVN instead of Bhowali KMVN..?
